Hello! I'm Devendra Singh from Think News Daily.
As a writer, I often get asked one question: “Which gaming console should I buy — PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X?” It's a fair question, especially in 2025 when both have been out for a while and prices are finally more reasonable. So, I decided to put this simple, honest guide together to help you make the right choice.
Design and Size – Which One Looks Better?
The Xbox Series X looks like a tall black box simple, clean, and easy to fit next to your TV. The Series S is smaller and more compact, but less powerful. On the other hand, the PS5 has a bold, curvy design. The newer PS5 Slim is a bit more travel-friendly.
If you like futuristic looks, you’ll probably prefer the PS5. If you like minimalistic setups, the Xbox might be more your style.
Pricing in 2025 – What Fits Your Budget?
Console | Price (Approximate) | Storage | Disc Drive | Performance |
---|---|---|---|---|
Xbox Series S | ₹33,000 | 512GB | No | 1440p, 120Hz |
Xbox Series X | ₹50,000–₹55,000 | 1TB | Yes | 4K, 120Hz |
PS5 Digital Edition | ₹45,000 | 825GB | No | 4K, 120Hz |
PS5 Disc Edition | ₹55,000 | 825GB | Yes | 4K, 120Hz |
PS5 Slim (Digital/Disc) | ₹45,000–₹55,000 | 1TB | Optional | 4K, 120Hz |
Game Performance – Is There a Real Difference?
When I tested games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, NFS Unbound, and Call of Duty, I didn’t see a big difference in graphics or speed between the Xbox Series X and PS5. Both run games beautifully at 4K and up to 120 FPS, depending on the title.
The Series S, however, runs games at a lower resolution (1440p), so if you have a 4K TV, it won’t look as sharp.
Controller – Which One Feels Better?
The PS5 DualSense controller really stands out. It has adaptive triggers and haptic feedback that change based on what’s happening in the game. If you're shooting, driving, or pulling a bowstring, you’ll feel it.
The Xbox controller is still great solid build, familiar layout but it doesn’t have the same vibration or trigger features.
Exclusive Games – Who Wins Here?
PlayStation has more big, story-driven exclusives, while Xbox focuses more on variety and Game Pass.
Top PS5 Exclusives:
- Spider-Man 2
- God of War: Ragnarok
- The Last of Us
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Ratchet & Clank
- Astro’s Playroom (pre-installed)
Top Xbox Exclusives:
- Halo Infinite
- Forza Horizon 5
- Starfield
- Gears 5
- Microsoft Flight Simulator
- Hi-Fi Rush
PSVR 2 – Bonus for PlayStation Fans
One big extra point for PlayStation is PSVR 2, their virtual reality headset. It’s not cheap (around ₹50,000+), but the experience is top-notch. Xbox doesn’t support VR at all.
Backward Compatibility
Xbox Series X/S supports games from Xbox One, Xbox 360, and even the original Xbox — that’s a massive game library.
PS5 supports most PS4 games, but not PS3 or older games (unless via cloud streaming, which is limited in India).
Game Pass vs PlayStation Plus – Which is Better?
Feature | Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | PlayStation Plus (Deluxe) |
---|---|---|
Price (India) | ₹6,500/year | ₹6,500/year |
Day-One Game Releases | Yes | No |
Works on PC Too | Yes | No |
Exclusive Titles | Some (also on PC) | Many console-only titles |
Classic Games | Yes | Yes |
Final Thoughts – Which Console Is Right for You?
Here’s the bottom line both are excellent consoles. It really comes down to what you care about most.
Choose Xbox Series X/S if you:
- Want the best value for money
- Enjoy trying lots of games (Game Pass!)
- Want backward compatibility
- Also play on your PC
Choose PlayStation 5 if you:
- Love exclusive games like Spider-Man and God of War
- Want the most immersive controller
- Are curious about VR
- Prefer cinematic, story-driven games
Final Word from Me
At the end of the day, it’s not about which console is better — it’s about which one is better for you. I’ve used both, and I enjoy both. If you can, try them out before buying.
